Program description

Computer Science, MCS

For working professionals looking to deepen their technical expertise and advance in the computing industry, ASU offers an online program that combines rigorous theory with practical, project-based training. The Master of Computer Science provides hands-on instruction spanning theory, systems and applications, helping students build a portfolio of projects that showcases their abilities to employers. Unlike the research-oriented Master of Science in Computer Science, the MCS emphasizes applied coursework and career development for industry practitioners, covering areas such as algorithms and simulation modeling, artificial intelligence and machine learning, big data and data mining, cloud and distributed systems, cybersecurity and cryptography, cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things, and visualization and graphics. Graduates complete substantial course projects that demonstrate advanced technical capability and position them for leadership roles in industry.
